Legal Committee (LEG)

The Legal Committee (LEG) deals with the IMO’s legal matters. This Committee consists of all Member States of the IMO.

LEG was established in 1967 as a subsidiary body to deal with legal questions which arose in the aftermath of the Torrey Canyon disaster.

The next session is the 104th Session of the Legal Committee (LEG 104).

Agenda

New Zealand can make a submission on any item in the next Session’s agenda. If you have any views or feedback on an agenda item, contact us before the submission date. We would be happy to meet with (or teleconference) you to discuss your views, issues and feedback.

Previous session

At the end of each Legal Committee (LEG) meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the IMO Council.

The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Committee.
