NZOSCA approval

Information for manufacturers, distributors or suppliers of oil spill control agents (OSCA) applying for approval as New Zealand oil spill control agents (NZOSCA).

Pre-approval testing

Before starting the approval process, you must contact Maritime NZ first to discuss testing requirements that may be needed for your agent. All testing requirements are outlined in Marine Protection Rules Part 132 - New Zealand Oil Spill Control Agents.

Outcomes from the pre-approval discussion may include:

  • arrangements for testing of the agent, or alternatively providing existing test results from another agency or organisation, in New Zealand or overseas
  • providing existing test results for components of an agent where new testing would produce invalid results
  • how to provide required test documentation as specified in the test method guideline or standard.
