Recognised Surveyors

Operators should contact a Recognised Surveyor and check they hold the appropriate recognition for the type of vessel to be surveyed.

Engage a Recognised Surveyor

Under the Maritime Operator Safety System (MOSS), maritime operators can engage a Recognised Surveyor directly. Your vessel can be surveyed by any surveyor, as long as they have been recognised by Maritime NZ to carry out the survey work.

Contact a Recognised Surveyor and check they hold the right recognition for your vessel type.

Compare surveyors’ fees before you engage them, as Maritime NZ does not set surveyor fees.

You can also share the costs of travel time with other operators in your area by having your vessel surveyed at the same time.

Contact a recognised surveyor

Recognised surveyors (In–Construction and Periodic) listed below can survey ships under 400 GT for compliance with Marine Protection Rules Part 199, Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships, and issue the Annex VI endorsement. This is limited to the ship type, size, and hull material shown for each surveyor.
