This Part was amended by Marine Protection Rules Amendments 2025. These amendments come into force on 1 December 2025.
Standardized recording of shipboard operations involving noxious liquid substances and their discharge, as well as the provision of shipboard manuals to guide crew involved in these operations, is a concern under Part 142B.
Part 142B gives effect to Regulations 14 and 15 of Annex II of MARPOL 73/78 and, in respect of manuals, the internationally-agreed interpretation that the Annex’s discharge and certification provisions require each ship to have a Procedures and Arrangements manual.
This rule was signed by the Minister of Transport on 20 May 1998 and came into force on 20 August 1998.
