Amendment
This Part was amended by Maritime Rules Amendments 2025 (No 2). These amendments come into force on 1 December 2025.
This rule was signed by the Minister of Transport on 8 April 2014 and comes into force on 1 July 2014 (except Rules 24A.43(1) and rule 24A.242(3)(e) and (f), which come into force on 1 December 2014).
On 18 November 2022, the Associate Minister of Transport signed the Maritime Rules (Part 23 and 53) Amendment 2022 which come into force on 22 December 2022.
This Part was amended by Maritime Rules Amendments 2025 (No 2). These amendments come into force on 1 December 2025.

This part was amended by a notice in the New Zealand Gazette on 27 August 2020, noting a change to material incorporated by reference.

The original Part 24A was revoked and replaced by a new Part 24A in 2014. This also included consequential amendments to Maritime Rules Part 24A and Marine Protection Rules Part 150.
This Part was amended by Maritime (Various Amendments) Rules Parts 20, 91 in 2008.
This Part was amended by Maritime Rules Part 24B in 2005.
Sections 1 and 3 of Part 24A came into force on 1 February 1998.
Part 24A was signed into law by the Transport Minister on 10 December 1997.
