Amendment
This Part was amended by Marine Protection Rules Amendments 2025. These amendments come into force on 1 December 2025.
The purpose of Part 300 is to prevent, minimize and ultimately eliminate the risk to the environment, human health, property and resources arising from the transfer of harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens through the control and management of ships’ ballast water and sediment. Part 300 gives effect to the provisions of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments 2004.
The Minister signed Part 300 on 1 March 2016, which will enter into force on 8 September 2017.
These rules were signed by the Associate Minister of Transport on the 1 March 2016 and came into force on 8 September 2017.
