Marine Protection Rules Part 141
What Part 141 applies to
This rule applies to:
- New Zealand ships, warships and other ships of the New Zealand Defence Force
- ships carrying chemical cargoes in bulk
- foreign ships carrying bulk chemical cargoes operating in areas of the sea under New Zealand’s jurisdiction.
Overview of Part 141
Part 141 incorporates the construction, equipment and operational standards for ships certified to carry noxious liquid substances in bulk found in the International Maritime Organisation’s International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk.
Part 141 gives effect to Regulations 11 and 12 of Annex II of MARPOL 73/78.

This rule was signed by the Minister of Transport on 20 May 1998 and came into force on 20 August 1998.
