Marine Protection Rules Part 143
What Part 143 applies to
This rule applies to:
- Ships of 150 gross tons or more that carry noxious liquid substances in bulk as cargo.
Overview of Part 143
Part 143 prescribes requirements for shipboard marine pollution emergency plans for noxious liquid substances including plans contents; approval, maintenance, testing and review.
Part 143 will gives effect to Regulation 17 of Annex II of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973/78 (MARPOL).

This rule was signed by the Minister of Transport on 20 May 1998 and came into force on 20 August 1998.
